This is easily a top three food spot in West Chester. Every week they blow me away with their specials and the rest of the menu is a wonderful mix of Creole, gourmet and bar food. Try the pistachio chicken or the crab cakes with dirty rice. Best crab cake I've ever had. Never mind the food, here comes the beer! Craft beer heaven on tap and triple the offering in bottle or can. They even have Dale's pale ale! Bartenders Mike, Jeff, Pete, and Paul know every beer and can whip up some mean martinis if you wish. Come for the food and drink, but stay for the music. The best of the best local bands play on the weekends. Weekdays offer unique singer songwriters and occasionally the house band holds an open mic night where you can show up and play, onstage, by yourself or with the band. A must try. Go now. Do it. Do it.

It's the first meal I've had at the Social Lounge. I used to like Spence Cafe before it closed at this location. I took a chance. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. I got the Cajun Meatloaf and garlic mashed potatoes while my grandson got the pulled pork sandwich. Outstanding! My the table next to us got the blackened Tavern steak and it looked great. I heard him comment how good it was. All in all a winner. My only complaint was the fact that they were too efficient. I was about one third through my Caesar salad when my entree arrived. We all felt a tad rushed even though our server Ed couldn't have been nicer. Then they wanted to clear while my wife was still eating and I was enjoying a glass of wine. People want to linger over a meal when they go out to dinner. It's not a dinner or fast food restaurant. But that was my only criticism. Try it. You'll like it.

A friend and I wanted wings to snack on. So she recommended The Social lounge. We called ahead for a takeout order. The person over the phone was helpful and polite. We ordered two orders of Rosemary lemon wings. Over the phone, I was told there would be a 10 minute wait for my order. I arrived after 10 minutes to find my order was not ready. I waited about 15 extra minutes for my order. It was apparent they forgot to put my order in. No one from the lounge spoke about my wait. All I heard is they'll be right up. Ok no big deal so I have to wait. Finally, the wings are here. The way my friend spoke so highly of the wings. There was a air of excitement building up. The presentation was good and the aroma was even better. I enjoyed the way Rosemary and the lemon were paired. But my suggestion to make this an epic wing dish. I would add some honey. I think by adding honey it would make this an epic appetizer.

Really great food, drinks, outdoor seating. Hubby had the breakfast burger and I had the A.L.T- good sweet potato fries. We loved it.

Love love love everything on the menu, I've tried pretty much everything and can't find one thing to complain about. The staff isn't always the friendliest but it's worth it to go for the food.

Great food! Great beer selection! Home to some great music! I recommend seeing the Jeff Washington band, usually the first Friday of every month

Good food and awesome beer list. I love their lobster mac n cheese. It's also a great bar to go to on a Friday or Saturday night. They usually have live music also. The back patio is great for the summertime. Just needs to be advertised more so more people know about it!

The Social Lounge is a great place to eat in West Chester. The atmosphere is so unique from other restaurants and every week they have a live band (sometimes multiple days per week). The interior of the restaurant is decked out in trendy decor with both tables, booths and couches. The servers are prompt and make sure to check back on drinks and food. Happy hour is great, especially in the outdoor seating area, and the night life is pretty great as well. The FOOD IS THE BEST PART though! The menu is so dynamic and offers a wide variety of apps, entrees and desserts! My favorites are the burgers and goat cheese stuffed wings (OMG). The burgers always come out how you ask and are huge! Chef Dan is amazing and always changes things up! A plus is that they now offer more taps full of craft-beer goodies. All in all a great restaurant with a cool vibe.

My wife & I had dinner at the Social Lounge, last night. The spiced pumpkin soup with chicken was absolutely delicious, as were my lump crab cakes. My wife had the mini tacos with salad, as an appetizer, and the chicken with crushed pistachio breading. Our waitress was very efficient and pleasant. The beers were chilled just right. We will definitely be going back, to try other offerings. Kudos to the chef!

We went back to Social Lounge and the service was so much better than before! The veggie burger was very tasty. My hubby had the pistachio crusted chicken tenders and fries. He loved them! So happy to report the greatly improved experience!

Went for dinner last night. The restaurant bills their menu as Cajun and creole themed, but it's more of a menu that has something for everyone, with a sweet or spicy twist to it. Ordered an Old Fashioned to drink which was decent. Our table ordered the Cola Ribs as an appetizer which were actually quite good, better than expected. I will say I am usually disappointed with restaurant ribs, but they got this right. I ordered the Pistachio-encrusted chicken for my entree and I have to say that it was quite good. Cooked properly and the order was done right. The sauce they used was creamy and sweet; the inclusion of lobster meat in the sauce added a lot of extra flavor. Our waitress was nice and attentive but it took until our appetizers came out to realize we hadn't been given napkins or utensils. Overall, I enjoyed the atmosphere but was surprised that it wasn't busier for a Saturday night. The restaurant is smaller than you would think but is still actually quite loud; I did struggle on occasion to hear my company speak. I would go again, but in my opinion this place is best suited for a casual meal. If you're looking to get dressed up or go out on a date, there are other places in the downtown area that would likely better suit what you're looking for.

Went to the Social lounge for music food and drinks last weekend. Had a GREAT time and really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Very laid back and inexpensive. I will definitely go back again. This is my new favorite spot in town (I don't like college bars or overpriced clubs).

Boring Food, Surly waitress and bad service. Went for lunch with a friend who arrived at noon and got treated like she had no business being in the place. Ordered soup and a salad each. The soup and chilli bowls were huge (which is good but waitress never mentioned that) and when they arrived I asked if we could cancel salad. Apparently not, "but you can take it home" I was told. Corn chowder was too thick and too salty. Salads arrived while we were still eating soup and the Goat cheese salad was a boring piece of breadcrumbed goat cheese about half an inch thick and a pile of green leaves with a few pumpkin seeds....$10.99...methinks not!! No wonder we were two of only 6 people in the place....although the guys outside got lots of attention, she chatted to them for at least 15 mins while the phone rang out in the restaurant. At least now I know why the other restaurants were busy and this one was quiet. Won't be back and won't recommend What a shame!

this place is growing on me. Stopped in the other night and had a great time, friendly bartenders, good crowd, and some good music. Throw in an eclectic menu and great beer selection and this place is a winner for me!

I really liked this place. Went for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. The staff was very friendly, the food was absolutely delicious and affordable! The atmosphere was cool, good music, nice decor. I would definitely go there again.

Went last night for a late dinner. I ordered shrimp and grits and received shrimp and couscous. Friends loved their breakfast burger and crab cakes, but I was disappointed in the mislabeling of grits. I was really craving grits!!!

Terrific food from Dan Funk of New Orleans Cafe fame.Highly recommend the meatloaf. It was too spicy for the wife so guess who benefited! I have also had the Lobster Mac and cheese and Cashew chicken. But the crab cakes are no joke. Cheers.

Cheap wine. Stick with bottled beer.

I went to The Social Lounge last night and was impressed with the layout. It looked like a fun place to sit down, relax and hear some music. From that aspect I think they nailed what they were going for....and then we ordered drinks. $4 for a miller lite/bud lite-are you kidding me? You're in West Chester, not Manhattan-pump the brakes. On top of that I checked out the menu and it was pretty disappointing-I thought with their decor they would have a legitimate chef inspired menu with unique, creative items-especially when you have the balls to charge $4 for generic domestic beer, instead what I saw was a cookie-cutter menu that looked like a Cheesecake Factory or Applebees bar menu. Pumpkin salad-it's July dude, where ya getting the pumpkins? Cheese stuffed wings-sounds like something I'd see in a Tyson bag at the grocery store. Aside from that it's generic bar fare. If you want a place to sit down and hear music and you don't mind overpriced drinks then you'll probably have a good time. Otherwise I'd check something else out.

I ate at the Social Lounge last night on the patio and it was a great experience. I had the Social Crawfish and it was to die for. I wish that it was on the menu all of the time. It's a new favorite for me for sure. My dinner date had a burger and a beer and our check was only $35 for a great meal for two. The patio gets a little crowded but that's just how it is in town, they only have so much room. We always have great service here. Our waiter last night was friendly, on point, and made it a very pleasant and enjoyable dinner.

I have been to the Social Lounge several times ; includes weekdays and weekends. Great draft Beer, good atmosphere, a sort of hipster, casual, relaxing feel to the place. Bartenders are helpful and polite. I have only had one unpleasant experience which was with a bigger bartender (big belly) that was not in the mood at all on a Saturday night. Ehh what the heck, I'll look past him. I have only had supper at Social one time but it was very pleasant. The food was tasty with generous portions. Some of the prices are a little strange and most items are on the higher side. It is the ideal place for some happy hour beers & snacks after a tiring day of work. This will set the mood right - Cheers!

Two words...Nola Fries! Fried topped with cheese sauce and crab meat, sprinkled with Old Bay. The menu is full of fine choices. Nice laid back atmosphere and decent live music. The beer selection is good and the drink menu features items inspired by the prohibition era. They have outdoor dining so you can grab, a bite and soak up the nice weather.

Great food, painfully slow service. I had heard great things about the food and beer menu here. Our party of six entered a nearly empty restaurant on a Sunday evening and were greeted right away. That's where the good service ended. Our server waited 20 minutes to take our drink orders, then it took another 45 minutes to get our incomplete food order. The pistachio crusted chicken tenders, Kobe beef burgers, and pumpkin bisque were amazing! But then it took our server another 20 minutes to bring the check, even though the place never got any busier! What a shame the service was so poor that we probably won't go back.

Goat cheese stuff wings wrapped in bacon. Amazing. The menu was rock star. Motivated to go back asap!

The most underrated restaurant in West Chester. I highly recommend! A really good creole twist on everything. Definitely try the pumpkin salad, crab cakes, shrimp and grits and chicken and waffles (YUM)!!
(5)Laura F.
This place was DELICIOUS cajun-creole style food with american options as well (e.g. burgers and other things). I went with a party of 5 and we all got something different. I ordered the pistachio chicken and it was full of flavor. Got a taste of the meatloaf and cashew chicken and both were yummy. The mashed potatoes were way above average. I think this place should advertise more their cajun-style options because their food is way better than many places in the area. It was very very good. Everyone else loved their meals (see pictures). Great place to go for all different types of food - expect everything to be exceptional! P.S. They are a cool place to grab a drink, too, and were playing football.

Had dinner at The Social on Wednesday night. The meatloaf was fantastic. My wife had the brisket which also was very good. This is a great place for a quick dinner. We will be back again. cja

The food is INCREDIBLE! Fresh ingredients, superbly blended flavored and portions that will have you taking it home for leftovers. Please give them a try. You will not be disappointed. Fried chicken & tomato appetizer and Jambalaya this trip. AMAZING!!

This place has easily the best wings (stuffed with goat cheese) and best Bloody Mary's I've ever had. The Black and Bleu burger (topped with perfectly cooked brisket and Bleu cheese) is one of, if not, the best burger I've ever had. It's also always a reliable brunch spot too. Amazing cornbread. Solid beer list. Also, very friendly staff and good music venue. I'm always surprised it's not packed at all times.
(5)Shayne T.
Nice atmosphere. The layout of the place hasn't changed much since it was Spence, but the bar is bigger and there is a small stage. I ordered the Chipotle BBQ Wings. Very good wings, went down smooth with a happy hour special Red Stripe. This place is definitely worth checking out.

I couldn't even give this place a star. Service on a Friday night was not up to par with the other 20 restaurants in west Chester. I ordered shrimp and grits and got couscous. Our server was no great but the bus boy was a doll. He was more concerned with our table then she. Go somewhere else! Listen to this review.

Mediocre food, terrible service. I had the worst bartender ever there last night. Asked him about one of their beers on tap. He says 'I don't drink beer. I drink 1 Amstel Light and I'm good. I can tell you whatever you want about wine though.' I want to pay cash for the two beers I ordered but the bartender hassles me for a card. I hand him a twenty. I ask for a menu and ordered Caribbean Chicken Tenders. The bartender comes back TWENTY MINUTES later and says ' I'm sorry what did you order again?' He then gets in an argument with the cook because he put in the wrong order. Then comes back and hassles me again for a card, saying 'It's really busy in here and i'm losing track of who's doing what.' I look around there's maybe 4 other people in the bar. I gave him my card and explicitly requested that he not run the card, that I would pay cash at the end of the night. Then I order two shots, and as he's pouring them he says 'I don't know how you drink this it's disgusting.' i just said, i'm pretty sure we have a complete difference of opinion on everything at this point and i'm not really interested in yours at all. My food finally arrives. It's literally a plate of fries with a tiny cut up chicken breast on top...for 10 bucks. Fries were good...but it in general wasn't very good. He also got in this huge confrontation with this couple in there that wanted to sit outside and eat because he didn't want to switch their tab over to another waitress. His reasoning was that she was 'slammed out there and couldn't handle another table.' it was empty outside....He asked the waitress if she can take another table and she said 'yeah, please i only have one and they're about to leave'....but at this point the couple says 'we're just going to leave, thanks anyway. To top it all off i ask for my tab and the bartender runs my card without even saying anything! I've been frequenting this location since it was Spence Cafe. Its really going downhill. It was great after Pale Horse, but now its disappointing.

Long story short version: poor execution on some well thought out brunch items, friendly staff, inattentive management, and there are better places to spend your dough. Short story, long version: Stopped in for brunch with the missus when she got back from a recent business trip. I asked if I could order from the standard lunch menu (I wanted to try the grilled cheese), and the waitress reported back that the kitchen denied the request. I can understand it is not convenient, but I also don't agree with the decision: there was no rush at the kitchen, and it was a simple sandwich request, as opposed to something complicated. I appreciated that the waitress asked. She was a friendly college student who was still learning how to serve (I'll give her the benefit of the doubt, and assume she is new to the profession). We ordered eggs benedict and a brunch special that I could NOT resist. I was like the Chapelle junkie character scratching my chin when I saw it on the menu, and it called to me like a Siren on a rocky island, along with any other clichéd metaphor you want to use... they built it, and I came? I digress.... it was a brunch hot dog: 1/4 dog, roll, bacon, scrambled eggs and a cheese sauce. Eggs Bene: serviceable, but not great. I found the hollandaise had a bit too much lemon, and that tainted the whole flavor profile. The andouille was served on the side, was dried out and lacked the punch you normally expect. I know my eggs bene, people. I think they have the makings of something good, but the execution wasn't up to par. What a wonderful segueway into the hot dog review! (why thank you) The flavor of the brunch dog was spot on. Great dog, crisp bacon, scrambled eggs cooked perfectly, and a solid cheese sauce (I think mainly a cheddar based sauce). The thing that was a problem: the bun. It was cut too deep, and the cheese soaked it through before my server could bring it to me. The chef sent out a hot dog that was already falling through the bun, it wasn't toasted to resist the cheese soaking in, wasn't the right size - you get the picture. It was a sloppy mess. I loved the flavor, but hated sitting on the sidewalk tables looking like a toddler learning to eat for the first time as food slipped and slid and my fingers turned into a mess. I complained to the sweet yet impotent waitress. I told her the kitchen Lknew the product wasn't up to what it should be, and she blithely smiled and told me she would tell someone. There was a manager wandering around, and the owner (I think) was also present. No one came out to say thanks for the feedback.

Great Food!! never been disappointed. Bartenders and Waitresses are always very helpful with questions. Great atmosphere! Strongly recommend for Apps or Dinner.
